The hotel's interior design draws inspiration from its location in the bustling centre of Budapest and Hungary's love for wine and its manufacturing traditions. The lobby and bar are lively, full of colours and eclectic, reflecting the historical train station Nyugati built by the Eiffel Company in the nineteenth century. The first floor restaurant, corridors, and guest rooms, on the other hand, feature a more balanced colour palette - natural earthy tones such as red terracotta, natural beiges, and greenish hues.
Magdalena Federowicz-Boule and her team were tasked with modernising and rebranding an existing hotel building located near the monumental train station Nyugati and the Westend City shopping mall in the Pest side of Budapest. The design needed to correspond with the exterior - its elements, colours, and views, while also adhering to the IHG Crowne Plaza brand standards.
The ground floor of the hotel houses a spacious lobby with a reception area, a relaxation and co-working zone, and a bar zone called Axis. The first floor comprises a conference centre, a multifunctional ballroom space, and a breakfast restaurant. The hotel rooms are designed in a greyish and earthy colour palette combined with camel leather and two different hues of green colour accents.
The project was a symbol of the combination of the beauty of the journey, vibrant and busy life of the city, and Hungarian wineries traditions. The goal was to create a vibrant place, not just for the guests of the hotel, but also for the local community. The aim was to create a new trendy meeting place on the map of the Hungarian capital.
The project, which started in 2020 and finished in November 2021, was a challenge in creating a vibrant, full of life place not only for the guests of the hotel but also for the local community. The goal was to bring back to life a space forgotten by locals and to create interaction between the interior and exterior.
The CP Budapest project is a testament to the power of design in revitalizing spaces and creating a sense of community. It is a symbol of the combination of the beauty of the journey, vibrant and busy life of the city, and Hungarian wineries traditions. The design has not only won awards but also the hearts of locals and visitors alike.
